Governance
REAch2 Governance Charter
REAch2 is a charitable voluntary organisation which relies on the valuable input of a considerable number of non-executive volunteers, supported by an experienced team of staff. Due to the size of the organisation and the number of schools for which it is responsible, coupled with its drive for accountability, it is also a complex organisation with various important elements of governance.
-
The governance principles of REAch2 recognise the importance of developing relationships with a common purpose and they are about developing processes and structures. The effective governance of the Trust is supported by:
-
Trust members - the guardians of the school
-
Trust board - the Directors / Trustees
-
Trust sub-committees
-
Regional boards and their sub-committees - including Regional Ambassadors
-
Local Governing bodies - the local governors
-

My name is Sue Winson and I am pleased to introduce myself as the current Chair of Governors at Five Spires Academy. I have spent the last 30+ years in education and was fortunate to be Headteacher of three amazing schools. Having retired in Sept. 2017 I wanted to continue to be involved with schools, therefore was delighted to be appointed to the governing body and then elected as Chair.
I have children and grandchildren so am well aware of the education system from many viewpoints.
Five Spires is fortunate to have dedicated and professional governors whose main focus is to support and challenge the school’s leaders to provide an outstanding educational experience for your children
Being a Governor is established as a key role in schools; we are all unpaid volunteers who give our time trying to undertake our responsibilities to the best or our ability. We hope that you find the information about all the governors helpful and informative.
My name is Stuart Agates and I was elected as a Governor in September 2018. My children both attend Five Spires Academy. Molly is currently in Year 2 and Thomas is in Year 1. After 35 years post University spent in Sales and Marketing, I’m now retired and live less than 5 minutes walk from our school.
I wanted to be a Governor, simply to have the opportunity to play an active role in supporting the school staff and wider REAch2 team in making the school the very best it can be for our children. Ensuring my children gain not only a fantastic education but also actively enjoy all aspects of their time at the school is hugely important to me, as it will be to all of the Five Spires parents. I see the Governor role as a way to positively contribute to ensuring that is the case.
We currently have vacancies for REAch2 Appointed Governors. If you are interested, please contact the school.
